Do you ever find yourself submitting tens or even hundreds of job applications and wondering why you’re receiving minimal responses in return? Trust us, we know this can be frustrating- luckily, we’re here to help! Being unemployed, you may be tempted to focus on the volume of applications, figuring that the more jobs you apply to, the more responses you will receive. However, this is not entirely true! Focusing on quality over quantity can pay off big time. Our top tips when crafting your resume?

Tailor your resume to fit the specific job.

It is so important to have an updated resume for each job, because your resume is the recruiter’s first impression of you. By simply tweaking your resume to more closely match the descriptions of the jobs you are applying to, you have a better chance of catching the recruiter’s eye.

Highlight listed requirements.

Job descriptions typically have a list of hard requirements and a list of preferences. When submitting your resume to a job, you want to make sure that it highlights as many of these points as possible. Then, not only does your resume show you are more qualified for the job, but it also makes it more likely that it will come up in a recruiter search.

For example, if a job description states experience with a specific software is required, you definitely want to make sure that is highlighted on your resume if you have experience with it. If you don’t highlight that, your resume is likely to get overlooked in a search.

Finally, Get specific.

Often, companies are looking for particular skills or qualities for a potential candidate. If a job description states that experience working with small clients is preferred and you have experience working with smaller clients, it is important that you specify that in your resume. By including that you have worked with smaller clients in the past, it may give you a leg up over someone who simply indicated they were in a client facing roll.

It may seem tedious to craft resumes for every job you apply to, but remember- quality often wins over quantity! Looking to put those new resumes to the test? Check out our open positions!
