Meet the Board: Chris Caprio
Q: How long have known Jonas and Chris?
A: I was introduced to Jonas Roessel via a Start Up Coalition Networking Group in 2019. He was on their board and there was an event coming up around metrics and investments and he was given my name as someone who might help support the panel. We grabbed a coffee ahead of the event to discuss, Jonas actually moderated the panel, it went great, and we have stay connected ever since. Shortly after that, I got introduced to Chris as well.
Q: What drew you to RJ, and how long have you been on the Advisory Board? How did you become an advisor?
A: I joined the board in March 2022 and have consulted with Jonas and Chris on various topics since I met them both about 3 years prior. They have gotten to know my background as a CFO and how I have helped similar start ups scale and has been very interesting seeing them grow from just a few recruiters to their current team and resources.
Q: What space do you work in?
A: Currently I am in the technology services, consulting and hardware space. We have internal engineers and technicians who help implement, manage, secure & transform their data and operations utilizing best in class tools, both hardware and software.
Q: What is your role at your current company?
A: I have been at Focus Technology since 2017 as their CFO overseeing various back-office operations such as finance, accounting, HR, recruiting, legal, tax, M&A and investments.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Roessel Joy?
A: For the better part of the past 20+ years, I have worked as a CFO with many start-ups who have transformed, grew, sought and received investments and exited with many of those companies being in the services space. They were a mix of private, public and PE backed.
Q: Are you involved in any other organizations outside of work?
A: Currently I am on the board of Financial Executives International Boston Chapter, on the Steering Committee for the CFO Leadership Council-Boston Chapter, Treasurer & Board Member for Lynnfield Youth Softball, and on the Lynnfield Finance Committee.
Q: Where do you see the future of Roessel Joy going in the next few years?
A: They are growing at a tremendous pace in an employee friendly market and expect Chris, Jonas, and team to continue that growth within the finance & accounting space while diversifying their recruiting into some other markets & industries.
Q: What is your favorite piece of career advice?
A: Very early in my career, a CFO at a company I was working for said “Cash is King”. That has stayed with me since that day.
Q: What is one thing we should know about you that we can’t find on LinkedIn?
A: I spent about 2 years in High School working at a local Dunkin’ which is maybe why I like Starbucks better.
